myGaia: what i don't want

the former zaadster known as c.z.
so today i logged on to gaia(m) and was diverted directly to the myGaia page. it was an unpleasant experience that shows me how far gaia(m) has morphed from the community i joined and once loved.
here are some notes i made from my first myGaia experience the other day:
i do not log on to zaadz to read "news" about Laura Bush.
i don't care about a NY gift fair.
i don't want to see weather forecasts for Colorado, which i'm nowhere near.
i don't want to read an ersatz horoscope from tarot.com.
i don't want to be diverted and tracked over to lime.com as i click on a "calming meditation". (and yes, gaiam, i am well aware that it's one of the companies in your "family". exactly.)
i don't want to see a google map that's nowhere related to where i am at this physical moment in the middle of my screen. (yes, i understand that these "features" are responding to what i've set as my location, but 1) they're not even working correctly at that level and 2) it's NOT what i want to see when i log on, not why i joined this community.)
myGaia features an"add features" option but not a "subtract features" option. bad design. taking the time to close individual windows on the page is ridiculous. done well, this could be a useful page, but as it stands, it is adding to the clutter of the universe's information overload. we're not being given the option to truly make our own homepage, which would be ridiculously easy to do...but apparently not in gaia(m)'s commercial interests.

i have even less interest in logging on to gaia.com than in the past if this is the page i'm going to unavoidably see first.
i don't usually state things in the negative...let alone make negative lists. but this gaia(m) exeperience has pushed me there! today i feel very strongly: Gaiam has taken a great thing (zaadz) and ruined it.

more blogging and ranting to come, i promise ;)
